As I recall, I drew this cartoon after attending my Grandmother’s funeral. I remember thinking about how I would want my own funeral to proceed and have told my unofficial wife that I do not want any sort of “service” over my grave. An atheist funeral could have someone speak but not dished out by a hired Pastor. Fact is, I would like to be cremated and either kept on the mantle or have my ashes scattered. I think the scattering of ashes symbolizes that we are part of this earth and it feels appropriate being an atheist.
