| FEATURED LINK: Atheist Slam by cartoonist Ed Babinski sent me this. At first I thought it was a joke, like some atheist drew it to make fun of religious prejudice, but it's not. They seem to be serious. I haven't found any material on Faye Rosehart though. Update: The cartoonist emailed me with this - "Faye Rosehart = Pharaoh's heart " Well, maybe that was obvious to everyone but me. |
| FEATURED LINK: Webster's Open Dictionary I've always been wary of people who are purists when it comes to words. You know the ones--they told you that "ain't ain't a word." Merriam-Webster.com has an open dictionary on their site now for users to submit new words. These aren't officially accepted words but they are real words being tossed around as language evolves. And ain't finally got its recognition in the dictionary. Take that, purists! |
| FEATURED LINK: Tourniquet, The Christian Speed Metal Band I'm not sure how many visitors to this site will have heard of Tourniquet but they are one of the few bands I can musically recommend from days of listening to Christian metal. Lyrically I could tear them up, but their song structure is for a lack of a better word "awesome." Rhapsody.com just put some of their albums back up and Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance is a classic. Ironically one of their original members left the band because he became a naturalist. Here's more on him and his book. |
| FEATURED LINK: Oprah Winfrey is Fooled Again What is they say about psychics? Oh yeah-- "even if it isn't true it doesn't hurt anyone." How come we don't apply the same logic to this guy? He felt the same way. According to the post he wanted to write a romantic story to make people happy--and claim it was true. |

| FEATURED LINK: GHOST STORIES anime series You might think it odd that I recommend this on Freethunk but I've never minded ghost fiction, I simply can't stand those shows that claim it's real or use the pretense of "scientific investigation" to sell ghost myths. This series was redubbed with a comedic track that is often shocking for a cartoon. Freethinkers will be amused by the character of Momoko who is a Pentecostal Christian making sure Jesus Loves everyone. Some of the remarks are more sarcastic than some of my cartoons. | FEATURED LINK: BIGFOOT? GIVE IT UP I had someone who knows I think Bigfoot is bunk email me when they heard the above linked story on the radio. "Ha! Check this out, they found Bigfoot" it read. I didn't even have to read the story, I replied, "Wanna bet?" Some may say it's arrogant to reply in such a way until viewing the evidence but with Bigfoot it's like someone saying they found the remains of a Satyr. We're talking about mythical creatures. Let's move on to other mysteries, because there's plenty of them. So of course I wasn't surprised by this followup story: |

It never even crossed my mind to create an AtheistTube because the whole point of YouTube is an intersection of different ideas and tastes with commentary and debate (or in many cases, namecalling and ad hominem attacks) |
