BET Channel Supports Peter Popoff Fraud?
You’ll have to excuse me if I sound angry or unforgiving in this post because I am. Recently, a dear woman I know was telling me about her friend who had gotten into some “weird” religion and was a self-proclaimed prophet. This person is a follower of Peter Popoff among other things and unfortunately refuses to use the Internet as it may allow for government intrusion (which leads to the one world government headed up by the Anti-Christ). If only she would trust the Internet for just twenty minutes she could review the video detailing how Peter Popoff was exposed as a fraud on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson waaaaay back in 1983.
I read further on Popoff on Wikipedia because I thought he was a done deal–for Christ’s sake people, we’re in the information age, do a background check–and find that he has had a resurgence and is still pulling in major bucks. Part of his resurgence was due to BET (Black Entertainment Television) giving him time slots on their channel for his corrupt infomercials. BET is not the only culprit, there are others, but BET of all channels should be more responsible than to allow this white idiot to feed off the black gospel. In other words, I am playing the race card here and saying that BET aided and abetted a white man to defraud their black viewers, many of which cannot afford to throw away money in this economy. If you visit Popoff’s site he has a video on the left side that features black people amazed that their debts were mysteriously paid off. Could Popoff be more exploitative?
I tried to run searches if the NAACP had ever voiced their opinion on this issue but came up empty. You would think at least one major black voice would speak out–if you know of one, please comment.
I’m sure for those of you who regularly keep up on skepticism that this is old news, but for me it was really disheartening to hear–in 2011–that a faith healer is still suckering people. BET should be ashamed along with all the other channels selling Popoff airtime–but BET especially! I was hoping, since Wiki referred to news that was from 1998 up until 2007 that BET had stopped allowing Popoff airtime, but this is not the case as shown on the TV schedule below–which makes me even angrier at BET who, and this is coming from a “whiter-than-white” guy, is allowing their brethren to be taken for every penny to make a network buck. How traitorous is that? African Americans including Black churches should boycott BET for this.
I’m posting the YouTube video below which shows the original fraud of Peter Popoff back in the early eighties. We don’t need to keep allowing this faker to keep getting rich. If everyone with a blog or website would at create an article heading about “Popoff The Fake” or similar title so that they appear in the search engines next to Popoff’s site URL it may have a beneficial effect. I’d also like to see pressure placed on BET so throw in “BET Supports Fraud” as well.
If you’re a black person reading this and you think I’m playing the race card too much here then good. You should be angry just from a human perspective that people like Popoff shouldn’t be allowed to do what they’re doing. BUT as a black voice, BET is going to listen to you versus me. I think you should be angry as hell at both Popoff and BET.

When this first came on BET I must admit, I was one of the idiots that believed this man. My first thought was this man has thousands of testimony and they all seem sincere. After receiving the first letter, I did just as it said and sent in some money as he requested. It didn’t take long for me to finally realize what was going on. This man is a fraud and it’s horrendous that he is using the gospel to make money through manipulation of people (especially African Americans). However, Peter Pop off isn’t the only man on BET making money, there are plenty more constantly asking for seeds. If you want to sow a seed, for goodness sakes sow a seed at your own church, do you know what these people are doing with your money!!!! Im so disappointed with BET!
Peter can easely get to black people, all he have to say is MONEY and there it is, they will fall for it. As they already greedy as it is, they will fall for his veal to find easy way to make or get money because they are to lazy to go out and get money the right way. Beinging well uneducated, you can pretty much flash anything or tell them anything as long as if they don’t have to work for it. Peter Popoff and his black followers will serve in HELL.

This really isn’t a race issue at all, as believers we must ask God for wisdom and discernment of spirit, not to be tricked by false prophets. Anyone who knows the word, knows that it speaks of this very thing happening. Just for the record the bible doesn’t say that it will be black folks or white folks that would fall prey to deception. First of all, the issue is not a black, white, green, etc. issue. it is a human race issue. I to was taken in by this man. He presents himself as an angel of light, when in reality he is filled with darkness. He is one of the false prophets that the word of God speaks of, and you have to be very careful in dealing with these people, unfortunately I was taken in at a vunerable state at the time, I was unemployed, had been for 2 years and I had just gone through 2 deaths(uncles) in my family back to back,and was having problems with the pastor of my church. I allowed the enemy to come and deceive me at that time. Praise God through prayer and research, I will not fall prey again, by listening to the Holy Spirit and staying in God’s word so that I may get under and stay under the covering of the precious blood of my Lord Jesus Christ. LaToya, that is a really sad way of thinking and I’m not trying to be mean or sarcastic. If God can’t give you brains enough to recognize that Popoff is a fraud and that you can research this “fact” with video evidence of him cheating, then your god is not even worth considering to be real. Consider all the people who claim to have talked to god or know what god wants or claim power from god and you’ll have a line up of cheats causing human misery. When I was a Christian there was such a thing as “discernment.”
Otherwise, as an atheist, I say embrace reason and you’ll see what an obvious fraud Popoff is. If you’re saying that faith preps you to be gullible, I can’t really argue with that.

I was almost becoming a fool to listen to him I have sent him three payment of seed faith. I decided to think if God wants to bless someone you do not need someone to keep writing to you to sow a seed every time they contact you. I agree I am disappointed with BET because they allow such foolishness, but the comments made about black people on this site is just downright disrespectful. If you look very closely at the tv and see the crowd yes it is full of black people but apparently people forgot that this has been going on for years since the 1980′s when the crowds were full of white people. It’s not just black people or Hispanics it’s every race that falls for this mess. & for someone to sit here and say that black people are lazy that is just an understatement not all black people are lazy it’s plenty of us that are doing things with our lives and it’s plenty of us that are constantly making a difference. I think some people really have forgotten that if it wasn’t for black people we wouldn’t have half of the things we have now. For all the people out there arguing about black, white and any color that is the reason why scumbags like Peter Popoff and other scumbags of different skin colors and origin will continue taking advantage of desperate people out there looking for solutions to their problem without accepting responsibilities for their bad decisions. It’s easier to keep arguing and fighting with others based on political ideas, religious views, skin color or any other reason than assuming responsibilities for our own mistakes. If we really sit down and analyze the bible you will understand Salvation and God promises are free because He is our father and want the best for us. If BET continues airing this programs knowing who this people are then it tells you we are dealing with another business entity trying to make money of the public. This false preachers exist and keep getting richer because the public keep allowing them to. The word of God is very simple and clear about God’s will and purpose for us but we are the ones who don’t want to believe that it can be that simple and allow people like that to bring confusion and more destruction to our society.
