Glenn Beck Apocalypse Cartoon

Okay, so when I posted the article about Jacob Barnett and the Big Bang it blew up on Freethunk (pun intended). People seem really interested in this kid and I think quite a few of them are hopeful creationists–Mormons included– that also like Glen Beck. They want a kid genius to disprove the Big Bang. I think what upset some readers is I pointed out the biased article title and the assumptions of a Glenn Beck disciple who appears to be a creationist (hell, maybe I’m wrong and he can comment that he’s not). All I really was saying is that we don’t know what this kid genius is going to come up with and it may be an expansion of the Big Bang Theory or even an alternative, but that doesn’t mean Barnett or an alternative theory will revert to God just because the Big Bang is thought to be wrong. Everyone likes to fill in the blank with God when questions are put on the table or there’s a scientific dispute and there’s Glenn Beck pushing God everywhere as he makes alliances with Christians to support him (strange bedfellows as it seems more important now to push God versus knowing what God is being pushed).

Listen, Glen Beck seems like a nice guy–he’s just nutty! I don’t personally mind talking and hanging out with nutty people, but I do try to carefully make suggestions that some of what they’re saying might be nuts.

Starting with the fact that Beck is a Mormon, he’s not on solid ground or he’s ignorant of his religion. It’s a nutty religion when you get into the details! I’m sorry, I like Mormons on a personal basis, one of my best friends growing up was a Mormon, but Mormonism is a very bizarre religion. And the origins of the nuttiness are traceable unlike Christianity which has been clouded by too much time and you have to dig so deep and get into language arguments about what this Greek word means or what that ancient Hebrew word means that you end up with lots and lots of commentaries.

So I figure if you’re sick of Beck or maybe even a fan of Beck that you can laugh at this animated cartoon. I thought it was funny and Beck can be self-deprecating, so why not Beck devotees?
