‘Good Christian Bitches’ is Now ‘Good Christian Belles’

If you remember the minor fury when ABC originally announced its new series Good Christian Bitches based on the book of the same name by author Kim Gatlin, as predicted the name was changed to something more acceptable. It is now called Good Christian Belles. Too bad the new title takes some of the punch out of midseason entry, but the title image of “Good Christian Cleavage” brings it back. If you can’t say power struggle with the word “Bitches” then do the next best thing–show breasts that represent the female power struggle. Don’t think breasts have that meaning? Tell that to the cosmetic surgeons getting rich off of the ideal female image. The bejeweled cross tells the rest.

From the official site: Twenty years ago, Amanda Vaughn was the queen bee of Highland Park, Texas, but now she’s got to pay for her sins.

The trailer, while mostly one big scene instead of different edits of the series, shows the direction we can expect. It’s a soap opera with church as the backdrop and what looks to be  a Southern flavor. Sorry, that may be obvious to readers of the book, but I have not picked this one up. I admittedly rather read my graphic novels and science books then a book about backstabbing gossip-mongers, though I will give the show a chance since I can have fun watching it with my wife.
