This pretty much summarizes Christian pop culture--when Idiot Guides come out. It just made me laugh when I saw this. Yes, there are Idiot Guides for the general public on Math, Business, Programming and so forth but those are fairly concrete subjects; dumbed down guides written by experts for those of us not attending a university class. When it comes to writing a guide on Intelligent Design or Christian Prayers I wonder if we are going to get the full perspective and who are "the experts"? Highly doubtful we will get anything but faith masked as intellectualism because these so-called guides are marketed towards Christian Bookstores (this ad came from Christian Retailing). These guides are proselytizing tools that at best can be described as extended tracts to hand out as witnessing tools. Not that witnessing matters in this case because the publisher knows there's money to be made by selling these to believers and not nonbelievers. Why is it that you need an Idiot Guide to tell you what the Bible means. Isn't it obvious? Isn't the Holy Spirit your guide? Or is the Bible so convoluted that you need someone to tell you what it means? I can't blame the publisher for seeing the money. These will definitely be bought by Christians wanting to win their debates against their atheist friends. Hopefully for the sake of filling out their product line there will be an Idiot's Guide to Atheism--couldn't find one on Amazon. Oh but then right, Christians are the persecuted minority as evidenced by the explosion in the Billion Dollar Christian Materialism Market.

I would guess that there will be The Idiot's Guide to Ghost Hunting coming out next if it is not already available...
